Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Image Reveals Full Look At Adam Warlock

A new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 image reveals the full look at Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock. The highly anticipated film installment of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy features a returning cast of characters led by Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord and Zoe Saldaña’s Gamora. One of the most exciting new additions to the franchise is Adam Warlock, a powerful cosmic hero from the comics who Will Poulter plays in the movie. His arrival comes six years after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’s post-credits scenes set up his creation as a direct tease that he would factor into the trilogy capper.

After the first look at Will Poulter’s MCU hero came during the movie’s first trailer, Empire has now released a new image that shows Adam Warlock’s full look in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

The Adam Warlock costume in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 retains some of the key characteristics of the comics, while also updating his look for the MCU. The golden skin and hair are standard for Adam Warlock, which is why the Sovereign in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 had the same appearance. The stone in Adam Warlock’s head is not an Infinity Stone like it is in the comics, though. He also keeps the red and gold color scheme to his costume, as well as his usual red cape.

The introduction of Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 should give him an important role in the story. He has not been featured heavily in the film’s marketing to this point, making it a bit more difficult to pinpoint exactly how he factors in. However, Guardians of the Galaxy 2’s post-credits scenes established that he was created to defeat the Guardians team. The movie’s trailer has since teased him fighting members of the Guardians, showing how this conflict will continue.

Adam Warlock is likely to be a bit of a foe for the Guardians in that regard. James Gunn has said before that this version of the powerful cosmic character is not entirely a hero at this point in his life. In fact, Gunn compared Adam Warlock to a baby in this interview with Empire, suggesting that his adult body is not an indication that he is as emotionally or psychologically mature. That should create a fun role for Will Poulter to play, even if that means fans of Adam Warlock in the comics might need to adjust expectations for how different the character will be in the MCU.

Even if Adam Warlock starts off as a villain in Guardians of the Galaxy 3, it would be surprising if Guardians of the Galaxy 3 does not include him turning into more of an ally by the end. His incredible powers would be beneficial when it comes time to fight High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji). Meanwhile, Adam Warlock becomes a key member of the Guardians of the Galaxy in the comics and is potentially going to be put in a similar position for the MCU’s future. Will Poulter should play a major role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and future movies as a result.
