Dwayne Johnson Celebrates Red One Filming Wrap With New Image

Dwayne Johnson has taken to social media to announce the end of filming on Red One, sharing a new image of his character from the upcoming Christmas movie. Johnson got his start in the WWE but has since become one of the biggest movie stars in the world, starring in the likes of Jungle Cruise, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. One of the actor’s next big projects is Red One, an upcoming Christmas action film from Amazon Prime Video, which also stars Chris Evans and J.K. Simmons.

A specific Red One release date hasn’t yet been released, but Johnson recently confirmed on Instagram that the movie is now one step closer to being finished having now wrapped filming.

Johnson’s image of his character, Callum Drift, doesn’t necessarily reveal too much about the movie, but the actor’s caption suggests that it will have a lot of heart in addition to a lot of action. The post may be short on any specific information about Red One, but Johnson does tease that there’s “more to come.”

The official plot for the upcoming Christmas movie has been kept under wraps, but it’s safe to assume that it will be a family-friendly, action-filled adventure. Johnson has already teased that Red One will be like a cross between Hobbs & Shaw, Miracle on 34th Street, and Harry Potter, which certainly seems like an interesting genre mash-up. Red One is directed by Jake Kasdan, who previously worked with Johnson on Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level.

While Johnson’s Callum Drift character remains somewhat mysterious, Simmons is confirmed to be playing Santa Claus himself. Johnson has already shared a host of behind-the-scenes images from Red One, showing off Simmons’ muscled, leather-clad version of old Saint Nicholas. Evans will also seemingly play a prominent role in the movie as a character named Jack O’Malley who, judging from Johnson’s photos, seems to be more of an “everyman” type of character. Johnson also recently confirmed that Red One will feature Krampus as a villainous figure.

While Red One doesn’t yet have an official release date, the movie is expected to release during the holiday season later this year, meaning audiences still have a while to wait. With filming on the movie now complete, it’s likely that footage will be shown off in the next few months as post-production kicks into gear. Johnson has been continuously providing peaks behind the curtain on Red One for months now, so it’s possible that the actor will reveal more substantial information about the film as it starts to come together in the edit.
