Shakira Announces Official Song for the 2026 World Cup

Global superstar Shakira has officially announced that she will perform the official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is set to kick off on June 11 and continue until July 19 across three North American countries: Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Shakira Reveals Release Date

Shakira shared the announcement through a video posted on her official Instagram account, where she appeared dancing inside a football stadium alongside a group of dancers.

She captioned the post: “From Maracanã Stadium, here comes ‘Day Day,’ the official song of the 2026 World Cup. Releasing May 14. We are ready.”

A Long History With Football Anthems

This will not be Shakira’s first World Cup anthem. The singer previously delivered the iconic song Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which became one of the most famous football songs in history.

She also performed La La La (Brazil 2014) during the closing ceremony of the 2014 FIFA World Cup ahead of the final match between Germany and Argentina.

Massive Concert in Brazil

Last weekend, Shakira held a massive free concert at Copacabana Beach that attracted nearly two million fans as part of her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” world tour, named after her 2024 album.

During the concert, she reflected on her first visit to Brazil nearly three decades ago, saying: “I came here at 18 years old dreaming of singing for you. And now look at this. Life is magical للمزيد في هتون.”
