Salma Hayek Celebrates Becoming a Grandmother
Salma Hayek is entering a special new chapter in her family life after becoming a grandmother for the first time. The global star recently celebrated the arrival of her stepson François Pinault Jr.’s first child with his wife, Lara Cosima.
Hayek, who previously opened up about her close bond with her husband François-Henri Pinault‘s children, shared a heartwarming video holding her newborn grandson, revealing both his official name and a loving personal nickname.
A Sweet Instagram Debut and a Family Name
On August 16, the Eternals actress posted a video on Instagram showing her cradling the newborn while softly speaking to him in Spanish.
In her caption, Hayek revealed that while the baby shares his father’s name, François, she has already picked out a special nickname for him:

The public update arrived after François Pinault Jr. and Countess Lara Cosima Henckel von Donnersmarck quietly welcomed their baby boy in July. The couple kept the pregnancy and birth entirely private before sharing the news weeks later.
Lara Cosima recently shared family photos on Instagram—including one of Hayek holding the baby—referring to her husband as “my husband” and confirming their private marriage following their previous engagement.
Step-Motherhood and Family Dynamics
Hayek married Kering CEO François-Henri Pinault in Paris in 2009. Together they share an 18-year-old daughter, Valentina Paloma Pinault, born in 2007. Through her marriage, Hayek became stepmother to her husband’s three children: Mathilde (25), François (38), and Augustin (19).
Speaking to Red magazine in 2017, Hayek reflected on her blended family:
“I always wanted to have a lot of children, and I was not able to. My body, as a miracle, had one. The huge blessing I’ve had is that my husband has three other children. So I have four. And they are all so different.”
Balancing Career and Family
Hayek has also credited her husband with encouraging her to continue her acting career after becoming a mother. In a 2015 interview with People, she shared that continuing to work served as an important example for her daughter, showing that motherhood can coexist with personal and professional ambitions.
