Salma Hayek to Receive the Jane Fonda Humanitarian Award

Mexican-American star Salma Hayek Pinault is set to add a prestigious new accolade to her extensive career in film, television, and humanitarian work. The Women In Film (WIF) organization has announced her selection as the recipient of the Jane Fonda Humanitarian Award at the upcoming 2026 WIF Honors gala, which brings together leading women in Hollywood.
The event will take place on November 5 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, gathering prominent filmmakers, stars, and influential figures in the entertainment industry. The gala directly supports Women In Film programs in advocacy, research, and career development.

Salma Hayek Honored for Humanitarian Impact

Salma Hayek is receiving the Humanitarian Award in recognition of her decades-long career in film and television, coupled with her unwavering activism supporting the rights of women, children, and immigrants. Veteran star Jane Fonda will present the award to Hayek during the ceremony.
The award has carried Fonda’s name since 2021, when WIF renamed it to honor her legacy (formerly known as the Norma Zarky Humanitarian Award). The organization states that the award honors women who leverage their influential presence in the entertainment industry to spotlight humanitarian causes and drive social change.
Hayek’s recognition this year gains special significance due to her ongoing advocacy against gender-based violence. She has long been associated with the Kering Foundation efforts in this field and co-hosted the fifth edition of the Caring for Women dinner in New York in September 2026, which raised over $5 million to support four organizations dedicated to ending violence against women and children.
This marks WIF’s second time honoring the Mexican star; Hayek previously received the Lucy Award in 2008 for her achievements in television, returning nearly two decades later to be celebrated for both her artistic career and her profound humanitarian impact.
