Fast X Trailer Takes A Closer Look At Jason Momoa’s Villain & His War Against Dom

A new Fast X teaser shows off more of Jason Momoa’s unhinged villain and shows just how extreme his war against Dominic Toretto will be. Serving as the tenth and penultimate entry in the long-running Fast & Furious franchise, Fast X sees Momoa’s new antagonist, Dante, attempt to exact revenge against Dom and his family for past misdeeds. The film is directed by Louis Leterrier and is expected to connect back to the events of 2011’s Fast Five.

Ahead of Fast X’s release date next month, The Fast Saga Twitter account has shared a new teaser for the film, highlighting just how unpredictable and deranged Momoa’s Dante will be.

While much of the action was already shown off in the main Fast X trailer, this new teaser features a few extra scenes, proving that Dante is unlike anyone Dom has ever faced off against before. As evidenced by several lines in the teaser, including “Let’s all start shooting each other,” Dante may not even care about his own life, making him extra dangerous.

One of the most exciting aspects of Momoa’s Fast X villain is that he is deeply connected to Fast Five, which is widely regarded as one of the best entries in the Fast & Furious franchise. Dante is the son of Hernan Reyes (Joaquim de Almeida) and is out for revenge after Dom and the rest of his crew pulled off a bank heist that resulted in Hernan’s death. Connecting the central conflict in Fast X to Fast Five not only creates a full-circle moment for a franchise that doesn’t often explore the serious consequences of Dom’s actions, but it also gives Dante a powerful motivation.

In addition to Dante’s connection to Fast Five, the villain also seems totally different from other franchise antagonists just in terms of his personality and how flamboyant he is. Many past Fast & Furious villains have been serious individuals, approaching situations with tactical care while ruthlessly commanding their underlings. Dante, on the other hand, actually looks like a bit of a show-off, wearing colorful, stylish clothing as he dishes out damage on his motorcycle with no concern about possible collateral damage.

Momoa, of course, has also proven himself a talented actor and is best known for playing heroic characters like the DCU’s Aquaman. By taking on Dante, Momoa will be playing a character who is unlike anyone he has ever played before, allowing him to really flex his muscles as an actor. It remains to be seen how Fast X’s Dante will compare to previous Fast & Furious villains, but he’s already shaping up to be a strong addition to the long-running franchise.
