With Fast X’s release date coming up later this month, Universal unveiled a new trailer for the tenth film in The Fast Saga which looks back on the entire . Check it out below:
Titled “Open Road,” the trailer intermixes footage from past films and Fast X. The focus is mainly on Dom and Letty’s relationship over the course of the franchise, though there’s also new footage of Fast X’s epic action set pieces, all complemented by some emotional score that tugs at the heartstrings.
As expected in a franchise all about family, the new Fast X trailer highlights just how important the core theme will factor into its ending. Since the franchise began back in 2001 with The Fast and the Furious, a humble movie about illegal street racers in Los Angeles stealing DVD players, one of its main emotional through lines has been Dom and Letty’s romantic relationship. Over many missions and against increasingly improbable odds, Dom and his family have defeated every foe in their path. However, that could change as they confront their most lethal adversary yet – Dante.
As shown by the new Fast X trailer, Dante is determined to enact his revenge against Dom by targeting his family, specifically by kidnapping his 8-year-old son Brian (played by Leo Abelo Perry). Dante’s quest for vengeance will scatter the main characters all over the world from Los Angeles, Rome, Brazil, London, Portugal, and Antarctica. Fast X could mark the end of Dom’s family for good with main character deaths and a shocking cliffhanger ending. Whatever Fast X has in store, it will lay the groundwork for the franchise’s final installment, set for a 2025 release.
